The “Christian tour of Rome” aims to visit some of the most important basilicas in Rome, in order to rediscover the roots of Christian history. Mosaics, sculptures, frescoes come to life to tell everyone, believers and non-believers, the story of Salvation.
The guided tour will begin in Piazza San Giovanni, and in particular from the Basilica located in this square.
Entering the Basilica of San Giovanni in Laterano means visiting a jewel in the history of art, humanity and Christianity. It’s the Mother Church of all the churches of Rome and the world.
This church, commissioned by the emperor Constantine, was the first in which Christians could pray freely, without fear of being persecuted. But why the name “in Laterano”? Since the building was built on the land owned by the noble Lateran family, inherited from Constantine’s second wife, Fausta.
After a careful visit, our tour will continue with a visit to the Basilica of San Clemente, which with the two superimposed churches, can be considered one of the most fascinating places of worship in the city.
Our tour will end with the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, built at the explicit request of the Virgin Mary who appeared in a dream to Pope Liberius.
Let’s fill our eyes with beauty and keep the memory of this beautiful day in our hearts.
